How we are paid
How we are paid depends on what you want. How comprehensive is the advice you require? Are your circumstances complex? Or are they just messy?
As set out in the "How we work" section, there are three broad categories within which you will want to take advantage of our services:
1. no or little advice
2. detailed advice on one area
3. comprehensive financial overhaul
In each case, before you take any action, we will make clear the ways in which we can be remunerated, which will always include a fee option. Where possible any feecharge will be fixed at outset, to give you as much certainty as possible.
In the case of options 2 and 3 above, we will probably have to gather some information from you to confirm the fees applicable, as we will need to make a judgement on the complexity of your circumstances and the technicality of the likely solutions.
Commission payments: Where commission is going to be payable to us by a provider, usually an insurance company or an investment house, we will always tell you in advance. Where a fee is also payable, any commission payable will be taken into account when working out that fee.
Fees: Fees will usually be based on either 1. time spent and evaluated at a rate per hour 2. a fixed fee. We will tell you in advance which applies to your case.
Whether we take our remuneration by way of fees or commission or a mixture of both will be a matter of discussion and agreement between us, and no charges for fees will be made without prior notification in writing.
